The Photography of Diego De Nicola

A short history with minimal exposure

Greetings, I’m Diego – the guy behind the lens, specializing in capturing moments and crafting visual narratives.

From an early age, my fascination with pictorial magazines, postcards, and photography books laid the foundation for a profound appreciation of recording moments in time.

The allure of the decisive moment genre, the dynamic energy of street photography, and the timeless elegance of black and white photography – all harmonizing within my portfolio – has been my constant go to.

Street photography has become my forte, capturing the spontaneous woven into the fabric of everyday life. The abstract of time itself and the distortion of a moment.

I have embraced the magic of black and white, i adore the way it removes all judgement unlike colour tends to do. I utilize this classic medium to distill emotions and narrate stories. It serves as my preferred language, allowing me to communicate the essence of each moment i allow through my lens.

I see a photo in almost everything, always looking out for that shot. Its intoxicating!

Film photography? Oh, it’s not just a nod to the past; it’s a love letter to the genuine, the authentic. More so in this fake digital world. Pretentious maybe, but authentic and real yes.

Developing film is like cooking up a secret recipe – you never know what you’ll get, but it’s always damn good.

I’m on a mission to freeze more than just time – I want my photos to be cultural bookmarks, documenting the world as it unfolds. In the spirit of my heroes, Henri Cartier-Bresson, William Klein, Max Dupain, and Joel Meyerowitz, I aim to capture the soul of a moment in a single shot.

I also appreciate colours and beauty that the still world of nature brings to me. The way it sometimes presents itself within life itself through its intricate patterns or majestic forms. Like its presenting to me. I like that a lot and i try to capture it as a moment. Not as often as I would like, but when I can, I do.

I hope you enjoy delving into my collection, feeling the thrill, the contemplative vibes, and perhaps a splash of nostalgia, just like I felt when curating it. It’s not just a mishmash of random stuff; it’s a peek into my world, a glimpse into the passions that fuel my lens.

Cheers, Diego.
