Nestled 110km west of Melbourne, Ballarat, a former goldmine city, became my home for a few years during the 2010s. It provided a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, offering a unique blend of beautiful historical buildings, a vibrant art quarter, and the charm of surrounding regional gold towns. This picturesque setting served as the perfect backdrop for my photographic explorations, inspiring new ideas and perspectives for my creative journey. The agricultural landscapes and rich historical tapestry of Ballarat became not only my residence but also a constant source of intrigue for my evolving photographic endeavors.
Perched high in Ballarat during my first year, I encountered the chilling embrace of intense winter fog. Armed with my camera and the historic buildings of Ballarat as my canvas, I embarked on a misty journey for several days, capturing the ethereal beauty that the fog draped over the city. The resulting images encapsulate the atmospheric and haunting essence of those cold winter days, turning Ballarat’s historic charm into a captivating visual narrative.
